I've always said that change requires a certain amount of compromise. Even if that compromise doesn't involve changing or modifying your convictions or perspective in any way, at least find a compromise that will get someone to listen to and appreciate your message.

Being a gun activist and firing off shots in the air is probably not likely to get people who are not already on your side to listen to your message. Likewise, wearing nothing but tie-dye and Grateful Dead bears while trying to get people to hear your message about marijuana legalization might not help your cause. There's a way to get your message heard or your changes made by finding common ground and disarming those opposing you by refusing to fall into the stereotypes that they would typically use to dismiss your cause.

This guy has never heard this advice.

He's a drug law reform activist that was found nak--you know what? Just listen to the story.
