A Dutchess County woman was arrested for allegedly smoking weed near three young children.

On Wednesday, New York State Police from Dover Plains arrested 26-year-old Melissa L. Bootier of Wingdale for three counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a class A misdemeanor and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers were dispatched to a home on Berkshire Road for a drug complaint. An investigation indicated that Bootier allegedly smoked weed in her home near three children, all under the age of 10.

The responding officer ensured that the children were in good health. The children were then turned over to a family member, police say.

Bootier was issued an appearance ticket directing her to appear in the Town of Dover Court on March 23.
