Each year Earth Day is officially marked on April 22. This year, 2016, the City of Poughkeepsie will be starting the celebration early on April 16, with a list of activities planned that you and your family can participate in.

All of the activities listed here are free to participate in and will help to take care of the City of Poughkeepsie:

  • A Main Street & Fall Kill Cleanup, with volunteers meeting up about 9:45AM at 517 Main Street, Murphy Park at Cherry Street. Over 100 volunteers have already signed up to help out. There will also be additional neighborhood cleanups taking place throughout the city.
  • How about a City of Poughkeepsie Bike Tour? Join in on the fun, with your bicycle at 10AM at the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway Bridge Trailhead.
  • From noon to 4PM there will be several kid focused activities at the Public Safety Building located at 505 Main Street. Just a few of the items include, Firehouse Open House, Police Canine Units, Sale of Bicycles for Kids, Giant Mother Earth Puppet, a Musical Sing-a-Long and more.
