It's rare but occasionally the Hudson Valley does feel the effects of an earthquake. Early Saturday morning parts of the Hudson Valley felt the tremors from a confirmed earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports, a 2.1-magnitude earthquake hit in Northern New Jersey just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The earthquake started about two miles northwest of Ringwood. Nearby towns from Mahwah to Rockland County, and even one town in Orange County felt the tremors. Ringwood is on near the New York/New Jersey border.

Rockland County Police has confirmed the tremors were felt in parts of the County.  Police say they received a number of calls from residents in Sloatsburgh, Hillside and Suffern who said they felt their homes shaking  in the early morning.

There are a few reports on the U.S. Geological Survey website from residents in the Orange County  village of Tuxedo Park that say they also felt the ground shaking this morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey classified the earthquake as a level IV, which brings light shaking and no damage.

As of this writing there hasn't been any reports of power outages, injuries, or damages.
