Hundreds of Hudson Valley music fans came out Saturday to rock out at 'Emo Night' at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie. The idea got started initially in clubs in California, then Brooklyn, it was localized by Junior from DNA, Chris Wicher of the band Junket along with Alexa Carrington.

Their first two shows exceeded expectations so they decided to move the party to a bigger room and The Chance Theater was the ideal place to set up shop. The night was filled with songs from everyone's favorite emo bands. Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Fall Out Boy and many others were well represented throughout the evening. Each of the three DJ's rotated sets while putting their personal tastes on display.

If you're unfamiliar with the genre, you may be wondering what the hell emo is? Google defines it as 'a style of rock music resembling punk but having more complex arrangements and lyrics that deal with more emotional subjects'. It peaked in popularity in the early 2000's but has been seeing a bit of a resurgence lately.

The next Emo Night has just been announced and will return to it's roots at Newburgh Brewing Company Friday April 28th. You can RSVP at the Facebook invite page, but you'd better get there early that night because each of the previous two have reached capacity.
