Additional Information

Have you ever wondered how to make your own soap, using natural ingredients in your own kitchen? Do you or a family member have sensitive skin or want to control exactly exactly what goes into your soap? Do you want to avoid the cheap petroleum chemicals and synthetic detergents that are commonly found in commercial soaps?

Cold Process Soap making is the number one choice amongst soap-makers.

Basic chemistry of soap making
Necessary ingredients, supplies and equipment
Safety considerations when working with sodium hydroxide
Explanation and importance of “superfatting”
Taking accurate measurements & proper mixing temperatures
Options for coloring soap including natural ingredients

Insulating, cutting, curing and storing your finished soap

As making soap from scratch requires working with Sodium Hydroxide (Lye), this class is adult only (age 18+). This is a hands on class so "dress for mess." Safety equipment is provided, but I suggest you bring along a pair of Playtex gloves as well as a towel or blanket to insulate your newly made soap for the ride home.

Together we will be making 2 batches of soap. Each student will be taking home 12 bars of soap (a $72 value) as well as recipes and my source list for supplies and equipment. Class fee includes $23 materials cost.

**Class size is limited to 4 students.
