In My Head: Traumatic Brain Injury
Survivors Reflect

Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury art studio participants have created a series of three-dimensional self portraits. Viewers of this collection witness these survivors life accomplishments as well as struggles of daily living after T.B.I. "It's like seeing my own personal brain storms through my art!" says art studio participant or "Artist in Residence" Celeste, who was asked a series of questions stimulating thoughts about life in recovery. She continued, "The questions I chose to answer for this project refreshed what is really important to me and brought up memories I hadn't thought about for a long time." Another artist reflected, "To see my thoughts strung up like this was like looking at my brain moving from the outside."

They then have chosen to create a light weight wall mount 3d plaster cast mask self portrait or 3d plaster-cast brain, Transparency paper was given to write or draw their thoughts about thier struggles, feelings, anxieties and what ever stick out in their mind. These fragment thoughts hang from wire hovering around their self portrait.
