POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie Celebrates Earth Day, April 21 and 22

The Poughkeepsie Earth Day celebration this year is a 2-day community-wide celebration of the City of Poughkeepsie’s diversity and biodiversity. It will begin on Friday, April 21 @3:30 pm, on the Civic Center Plaza at Poughkeepsie City Hall, with Music, Info Tables, Restaurant Discounts, Food Trucks, Free Bicycle Repairs, and info on Saturday City-wide clean-ups

Headlining the musical entertainment on Friday will be an acoustic and intimate performance by the Grammy-Nominated, Blues Hall of Famer
JOE LOUIS WALKER with MURALI CORYELL.. Also performing will be Frenchy and The Punk “a cauldron of foot-stompin' bohemian cabaret folk, world, French chanson, punk energy, dash of vaudeville charm, steampunk flair and pixie spirit!”. Local performers include: Louis Corbet, Spoken Word Artist; the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, award winning Teen Fiddlers; The Well Rounded , Arlington HS band; the Poughkeepsie Drumming Circle – And More!

Throughout the event on Friday Spoke Poughkeepsie will be providing free bicycle repair and tune ups, there will be information tables, sign-up opportunities for Saturday morning clean-up crews throughout the city, and a chance to join a 7-minute clean-up challenge, The 7-minute challenge was the idea of WPDH 101.5 FM Radio personality Robyn Taylor, and was recently introduced as an initiative for the City of Poughkeepsie by Mayor Rolison.

For those wishing to get something to eat on Friday evening, there will also be a number of food trucks, and discounts to local restuarants.
On Saturday, April 22, there will be volunteer clean-up sites throughout all 8 wards of the City of Poughkeepsie. Locations can be found on the event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/386029295101342/

Everyone can also take the 7-Minute Challenge and Sweep in Front of their Own Home or business.

Earth Day is partnering with the March for Science Hudson Valley. Those wishing to participate in the march will assemble on Saturday at 1:30pm , in Mural Square, 253 Main Street, Poughkeepsie
