Additional Information

Bird-On-A-Cliff’s Woodstock Shakespeare Festival is celebrating its 20th year performing free Shakespeare on the theater company’s outdoor Elizabethan stage. This summer’s production is one of The Bard’s most popular comedies, Much Ado About Nothing, in which Beatrice and Benedick, while sparring wits, fall in love. In a colorful change of pace, Bird-On-A-Cliff Theater Company has set this production in the Wild West, complete with hoedowns and six shooters! Show time is 5 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 17 through August 9. Admission is free (donations are accepted). The outdoor theatre is located at 45 Comeau Drive in Woodstock.

Nicola Sheara and David Aston-Reese co-direct a cast featuring Julie Szabo as Beatrice, Parker Cross as Benedick, and David Aston-Reese as Leonato. Others in the cast include Bethany Goldpaugh Brown, Chris Bailey, Ahmed Al-Gendy, Justin Waldo, Paul R. Thurman, Rebecca Kisch, Anna Muller, William M. Sanderson, Elli Michaels, Marcolm Young, Jack LaVigne, and David Hecht.

Bird-On-A-Cliff Theatre Company originated and has run the Woodstock Shakespeare Festival since 1995. According to Elli Michaels and David Aston-Reese, the company’s co-founders, producers, and artistic co-directors, admission to the Festival is free “so that BOAC productions and Shakespeare can be accessible to all.”
