The Hudson Valley Saints were a semi-pro football team based in Kingston. They called Dietz stadium home and from 2005-2007, Mark English owned the team. The team is now defunct and 54-year-old English of Port Ewen has been released on parole from the Altoona Correctional Facility after serving time for fraud, according to the Daily Freeman.

During the time that English owned the Hudson Valley Saints, according to the Daily Freeman, he solicited thousands of dollars from a number of local investors, but he failed to repay a single one. Police said English took more than $50,000 from a Kingston woman and more than $3,000 from a town of Ulster man.

In addition, English also got football equipment and uniforms on credit from a Rockland County business and never paid the bill. Daily Freeman reports that according to the Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright, at the time the charges were made English was using the Saints to borrow as much money as he wanted for as long as he could without ever intending to pay anyone back.
