The Roosevelt-Vanderbilt Historical Association is celebrating Vanderbilt Mansion's time as a historic site with exclusive access to parts of the mansion not regularly open to the public.

The fundraising event will be held this Friday night in the Vanderbilt Pavilion. It's the second of two events meant to raise funds to support park preservation and programs. The evening will feature live music, champagne and hors d'oeuvres. Attendees will be treated to one time access to exclusive parts of the mansion including Louise Vanderbilt's jewelry closet. And based on the size of the mansion, we're pretty sure she had some serious bling back in the day.

Tickets to the formal event are $75 and you must be 21 to attend. Tickets can be purchased here.

You've heard of the mansion, but who are the Vanderbilt's and why did they have so many huge houses?
