Former WRRV DJ and Hudson Valley resident McKay moved on from the radio world and will be getting his physical therapy. But before he graduates, his goal is to help a kid in need.

Jim McKay was a big part of the station for many years but now attends Marymount University in Virginia. As part of the physical therapy program, students there are sent to Costa Rica to work in an orphanage for several weeks. This experience touched Jim's life and he's decided to take action.

During his time there he met a local teen who unfortunately has Muscular Dystrophy. To protect his identity, Jim refers to him simply as 'G'. His family being unable to care for him, brought him to the orphanage run by nuns. He is fully dependent with only some use of his wrist, finger and neck. But despite his illness, G has larger than life personality who never stops smiling.

You can help McKay put this kid in a wheelchair by making a donation at the GoFundMe page. In just the first 24 hours more than $1,500 has been raised. This chair would truly change this kids life.

According to the Mayo Clinic:

Muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. In muscular dystrophy, abnormal genes (mutations) interfere with the production of proteins needed to form healthy muscle.
