Spending time in some of New York's State Parks this summer doesn't have to mean that you blow through your data plan in one afternoon or weekend. This summer, more state across New York will have free, public WI-FI installed.

According to New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, free Wi-Fi will be installed in some parks in New York City and the Hudson Valley and it won't cost taxpayers anything. It's a private/public partnership between the state and Toyota, so everything that comes along with a Wi-Fi network like installation of equipment, maintenance, etc.  will be taken care of.

While Wi-Fi is currently offered in some parks such as Saratoga Spa, Jones Beach, amongst others, it will soon be available in Gantry Plaza in Queens, Roberto Clemente Park in the Bronx, and Bear Mountain here in the Hudson Valley.

To access the network while visiting these parks, just look for 'Oh Ranger Wi-Fi' network. Uploading photos to Instagram and Facebook just got a lot easier on your data plan.
