NEW PALTZ – Holy Cow! You could tell this one was going to be a wild one based on the fact that 21 points were scored in the first quarter, including a 90 yard kick off return!

Kumar Singh’s short touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the winning score, and New Paltz High School then twice held off furious Highland rallies in the final minutes of the game to record a 34-33 victory over the Huskies at Floyd Patterson Field.

Both teams are now 1-1.

After Singh scored, the Huguenots still had more than eight minutes to kill against Highland quarterback Isiah Daubon and an offense that had its way through the middle quarters of the game.

But Singh himself came up with an interception that stopped one drive, and New Paltz batted down a pass on the final play of the game to seal the win.
