POUGHKEEPSIE -   The final leg of the Officials vs Cancer Basketball Tournament concluded at Dutchess Community College and the final match of the day pitted two struggling programs, Poughkeepsie and Kingston. Poughkeepsie's challenge has been the lack of a consistent flow of games due to scheduling and weather related cancelations.

"We sit around for 12 days waiting to play and can't get into a rhythm," stated Pioneer Head Coach Brian Laffin.

On the other hand, Kingston is just struggling. Coming into this game with a 1-10 season, Head Coach Ron Kelder is somewhat frustrated and felt a little more of that frustration after this one.

The final score had Poughkeepsie winning it, 60-55. While both teams kept the game close, it was not the prettiest of high school basketball games.  Both teams were missing easy layups, and both teams had major lapses on defense, But Poughkeepsie was able to stay just enough ahead on the scoreboard to outlast Kingston and rack up the program's 6th win in 10 games.  Jovan Atkinson and Sanjay Ruparealia led the Pioneers with 10 points each, Tyler Robinson did most of the damage for Kingston with 24 points.
