Germania of Poughkeepsie is legendary for their annual Oktoberfest celebration, but did you know that they have what might be considered a half-way to Oktoberfest celebration each year? It is called 'Maifest' and this year will be held on May 13-16, 2016 at the Germania Festival Grounds, 51 Old Degarmo Road, Poughkeepsie, 12603.

The real purpose behind a Maifest is to celebrate the arrival of Spring. But what can you expect at a Maifest? Live music with different entertainers each day. German dancers both with shows and also dancing around the Mai Pole.  There will also be multiple activities for the kids, to include magic shows, balloon animals and a clown. Plus German themed food and baked goods (and beer!) available for purchase.

The Maifest hours are Friday, May 13, 5PM -10PM, Saturday May 14, Noon to 9PM
and Sunday, May 15, Noon to 6PM. Daily admission price is $5 per person, those 16 and under are admitted for free.
