Over 1,500 hot rods, custom cars and classics will take over the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck this weekend.

The Goodguys 24th East Coast Nationals Car Show makes its Hudson Valley return on Friday and runs through Sunday. The event was last in Rhinebeck in 2011.

"The East Coast Nationals originated and was in Rhinebeck for 28 years before we moved it for a short time. We decided that we really wanted it to go back to its roots," said Betsy Bennett, an event director for the California-based Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. "We're thrilled to be back in the Rhinebeck market."

In addition to the fleet of colorful custom cars on displays, the show has a swap meet and a corral for cars for sale.

"There are people buying and selling all kinds of parts," Bennett said. "It's hard to find parts sometimes for these classic projects so swap meets are a great option."

Online pre-registration for owners looking to show their cars at the East Coast Nationals is closed, but at-event registration will be available, Bennett said.

"The creativity is phenomenal. Just when you think you've seen something that's amazing, it gets topped by something else. That's the fun of these events," Bennett said.

The hours for the event are 8AM to 5PM on Friday and Saturday and 8AM to 3PM on Sunday. Tickets are $17 for general admission and $6 for children ages 7 to 12. Admission for children 6 years and under is free and spectator parking is also free.
