The Harvest Moon is coming which means fall is almost here.

Have you ever wondered why it's called Harvest Moon?

According to the Farmers Almanac, the harvest moon gets its name because it meant it was time to harvest crops and farmers could work by the light of the full moon.

The harvest moon will hopefully be visible on Friday, Sept. 16 right around sunset which should be close to 7 p.m.

If I remember correctly, every September the full moon looks bigger than it normally does in the sky.

The full moon this month will rise low on the horizon so it appears bigger than normal and it will be bright and red.

If you are outside on Friday evening and take a look up and see the Harvest moon, grab your phone or camera and snap a picture and share it with us in the comment section below.
