Winter Heating Assistance Program Begins

Need help paying for heating bills this winter? Ok, maybe not today, but winter has a way of being longer than expected and cold!.

If you find yourself needing help to pay for those heating bills. There is help. Governor Cuomo says people can begin applying for home-heating assistance on Monday, November 16th. It's part of the federally funded Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP. Eligible households can receive a one-time benefit of up to 625-dollars this winter depending upon income, household size and heating source. Nearly one-and-a-half-million households received benefits through the program last year.

If you are a Central Hudson Gas & Electric customer, they also have programs that will assist you in paying, should you fall on hard times.
