If you live in the Hudson Valley odds are that you have made it to the Dutchess Rail Trail or know some who uses a portion of the DRT on a regular basis. You (and they) know how amazing it is to have this outdoor activity space here in the Hudson Valley. Through June 15, 2016, you can help the Dutchess Rail Trail make it into the National Rail Trail Hall of Fame. (Yes, there is such a thing).

According to a press release, here is what County Executive Marc Molinaro had to say about the voting:

"We are honored to have been selected by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, as one of five nationwide nominees for selection into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame. The Dutchess Rail Trail is one of the most popular and highly visited parks in Dutchess County. We are proud to partner with the Walkway Over the Hudson and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail to comprise the Hudson Valley Trail Network, providing residents and visitors a safe, healthy, and accessible way to explore and experience the Hudson River Valley region."

The Dutchess County Rail Trail is a 13 mile long liner park that runs through the middle of the county including the towns of Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, Wappingers Falls and East Fishkill, NY. The first section of the trail opened in 2008.
