The Hudson Valley has no shortage of artists who have made big names for themselves in the world of entertainment. Tons of well-known people from film and television have lived in the area or went to school here, and now a bunch of them are nominated for Emmys.

The Poughkeepsie Journal has rounded up all the celebrities from the area that are nominated for this year's awards honoring the best in television, and there's a bunch of big names on the list.

For example, Anthony Bourdain's show, Parts Unknown, is nominated for several awards in the nonfiction category. Bourdain went to Vassar College and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon was also nominated for Outstanding Interactive Program. Jimmy Fallon grew up in Saugerties and went to college upstate in Albany (the same college I went to, actually, but I haven't been nominated for an Emmy yet).

But the one I'm most excited about is John Turturro, who's a great character actor. You've seen him in a bunch of Coen Brothers movies (he was Jesus in The Big Lebowski), a bunch of Adam Sandler movies, and the Transformers movies. He's nominated for Lead Actor in a Miniseries for HBO's The Night Of, which he was phenomenal in. Turturro happens to be a graduate of SUNY New Paltz.

You can check out the complete list of Hudson Valley nominees over at The Poughkeepsie Journal's website. The Emmys air September 17th on CBS, and they'll be hosted by Stephen Colbert.
