Do you enjoy learning about local history? How about learning about local lore and having a drink while doing it? There is a MeetUP group that is checking out a different historical Dutchess County tavern each month. Each event has been or will be taking place on the second Friday of the month.

According to a recent press release, the goal of the Historic Tavern Trail is the following:

"in its inaugural year, brings history and local cuisine together, while introducing the community to iconic locales, with each installment held at different historic location featuring a brief presentation on the site’s history."

The time has come for their final two events. On Friday October 14, 2016, at 6pm the trail tour will stop at the Kimlin Cider Mill 140 Cedar Ave in Poughkeepsie. This Friday evening event will also be a special preview of the vendors and business that are participating in the Old Fashioned Cider Tasting event on Saturday October 15, 2016 that kicks off at 11AM.

Persons attending the Friday night event will get a tour of the mill. learn about cider production and sample ciders. The charge for the tour and cider samples is $5. Food will also be available for purchase. There will also be a raffle that night with the monies raised going to further preservation of the cider mill.
