How Much Your Festival Trip Will Cost
First of all, you should be going to Mountain Jam. It's local, it's awesome and Beck will be there. Nuff Said. The festival runs from June 2 through June 5, and a three-day pass with no camping goes for $195. What the hell are you waiting for?
After that, there is an entire wide world of festivals for you to choose from. Let's assume you want to go to ONE and you're trying to figure out finances, if you're going for the most recognizable ones out there. Here's how much your festivals will cost. (Costs don't include where you sleep. 'Cause there's a ton of options at each festival.)
Who: Guns 'N' Roses, Silversun Pickups, Halsey, Mike Snow, Rancid
Where: Indio, California
When: April 15-17 & April 22-24
How Much: Sold out, but available on StubHub for a whole lot of not cheap. Weekend passes start at $423, without camping, shuttle or packing passes.
Travel: Starting at $364 out of Stewart Airport. Not terrible.
Who: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shinedown, A Day To Remember, The Struts
Where: Columbus, Ohio
When: May 20-22
How Much: $159.50 (Lots of price levels are sold out)
Travel: $384 out of Stewart, $251 from Newark. However, it's only a nine-hour drive from Poughkeepsie.
Who: Pearl Jam, X Ambassadors, Third Eye Blind, Death Cab For Cutie
Where: Manchester, Tennessee
When: June 9-12
How Much: $349.50
Travel: $552 out of Stewart (DAYUM!), $381 out of Newark, but the drive is a haul at 14 hours.
Who: Foo Fighters, The Who, Alabama Shakes, George Ezra, Death Cab For Cutie, Milky Chance (This festival is straight bananas)
Where: England. Just, England.
When: June 22-26
How Much: $328, but camping is included.
Travel: $634 from JFK. I'm officially intrigued.
Who: We don't know yet. They haven't announced a line-up.
Where: Chicago, Illinois
When: July 28-31
How Much: Still don't know. Depends on the artists, I suppose.
Travel: $479 from Stewart (DAYUM again!), $301 from Newark. I've done the drive to Chicago. It's not fun, but it can be accomplished.
Who: RHCP, Radiohead, The Lumineers, M83, Walk The Moon, Elle King, The Struts, Nothing but Thieves (My goodness)
Where: Montreal, Ontario, Canada
When: July 29-31
How Much: $310 Canadian. (About $231 American currently)
Travel: $475 from Stewart, but it's only a 5 hour drive.
Who: Dunno!
Where: New Orleans
When: Oct 28-30
How Much: Not a clue!
Travel: $533 from Stewart. A whole lotta nope. $344 from Laguardia.
