Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro underlined his proposed 2017 budget for the county. Will taxes decrease for the third straight year?

Monday evening, Dutchess County residents have their final opportunity to learn about the 2017 budget. At 7 p.m., a public hearing on the budget with legislative amendments will take place at the Legislative Champers on Market Street in Poughkeepsie.

If you can’t make the meeting, or want to learn more, county executive Molinaro stopped by Hudson Valley Post to highlight this year’s budget.

Molinaro discussed taxes, property tax levy property tax rate, spending, investments, seniors, veterans and more. Click the video below for more info.

Molinaro also told us about the challenges to craft a budget when 70% of tax paying money goes to programs "we have no control over."

“We cannot and have no future as a state as being the most expensive in America,” Molinaro told Hudson Valley Post.

The Dutchess County Legislature is scheduled to finalize and announce the final 2017 County Budget on Dec. 8.
