A Black Lives Matter leader, who grew up in the Hudson Valley, was fatally shot.

On Tuesday, Muhiyidin Elamin Moye, who went by the name Muhiyidin d'Baha, was shot in his thigh while riding a bicycle in New Orleans.

He died from his injuries later that morning, reports the Advocate.

According to the New York Post, the 32-year-old moved from Poughkeepsie to South Carolina at 13. He was in New Orleans for vacation.

The Black Lives Matter activist become well known after he was seen on live t.v. jumping over a police barrier in hopes of taking a Confederate flag away from a protester in February 2017, reports the New York Post.

As of now, police don't know of a motive or any suspects in the fatal shooting.

A family member set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of bringing his body back home.
