Forbes has named a Hudson Valley college the best in all of New York. The United States Military Academy at West Point, which was founded in 1802 is the best in the state and number 11 overall.

The school offers 36 different majors and graduates earn a post in the Army as second lieutenants. But to get into the school to begin with, students must obtain a nomination from a member of congress. Students are called cadets, and they must follow the Cadet Honor Code.

A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.

The athletic program is highly esteemed as well, calling themselves The Black Knights, they compete at a division one level.

West Point admits approximately 1,300 cadets per year, while around 1,000 graduate on an annual basis. A long line of highly esteemed people have graduated from West Point, including Dwight Eisenhower, George S. Patton and Ulysses S. Grant.
