A Hudson Valley city that had its own high-profile deadly shooting by police is now considering equipping law enforcement with body cameras.

News 12 reports that the City of Newburgh is contemplating equipping all of their police with body cameras that would always be recording the action of every officer.  Members of the community have been asking for the cameras ever since Michael Lembhard was killed by an officer over 2 years ago. City of Newburgh police chief Michael Ferrara said they are considering the cameras not only to help improve community relations but also to keep officers safe.

President Obama has proposed millions of dollars in funding to make it easier for police departments to obtain and use the cameras. Cityy officials also support the idea of using body cameras but there is no specific timeline as to when a final decision would be made to allow their use in the City of Newburgh.

We want to hear what you think. Do you believe the introduction of body cameras would help to protect citizens and officers in Newburgh?
