The New York State Parole Board has denied parole to a Hudson Valley man who murdered three family members nearly 27 years ago.

In March 1989, the then 16-year-old, Brian Britton killed three family members at their Town of Poughkeepsie home on Van Wagner Road. Britton murdered his father, Dennis Britton; mother, Marlene; and 8-year-old brother Jason. He also attempted to kill his 18-year-old sister, Sherry Shafer.

Following an investigation and trial, Britton was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. He’s been imprisoned at Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock, Washington County. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports, Britton was denied parole for not showing any remorse for his actions.

Britton could file an appeal under Article 78, which seeks to challenge the actions of administrative agencies and other government bodies.

This is the third time that Britton has been denied parole. He can apply for parole again in November 2017.
