He or she may not be the Grinch, but this thief is certainly a mean one. A Hudson Valley family's gifts were stolen just days before Christmas, but there is a happy ending.

The Huffington Post reports that the Cuenca-Orzuna family were presented with $1,500 worth of gift cards and several toys courtesy of the White Plains police department.

Detective German Lopez told the Associate Press that the thieves took Christmas presents that were intended for the family's four children. If that wasn't terrible enough the children's piggy banks were also stolen.

The burglary happened while the children's father, Rogelio Orzuna, was at work and their mother was out running errands.

After officers decided that they "couldn't let these kids go without a Christmas," Lopez says they all got together to help out the family with the toys and gift cards.
