A girl from the Hudson Valley will compete for a world championship with Team USA in Norway.

In July 2017, 9-year-old Micah Beaudoin of Poughquag made Team USA after she and a partner won the Grand National Duet Championships in their division at America's Youth On Parade National Competition at the University of Notre Dame.

Micah, a fifth grader at Vail Farm Elementary School in Dutchess County, will compete for the World Federation of National Baton Twirling Association’s Team USA in the world championships in Lillehammer, Norway next month. The competition runs from March 28- April 1.

Micah has been twirling since kindergarten. She practices twirling many hours a week on her own and takes lessons with a United States Twirling Association coach at the West Point Military Academy. She also attends three dance classes a week at the Pinewood School of Dance in Stormville.

On weekends Micah and her family travel to Maryland for more practices.

Micah is the youngest Team USA member from New York State, according to a press release.

When she’s not competing or practicing, she likes to read, draw cartoon characters, write stories, bike, roller skate and play with her fire baton.
