A Hudson Valley hiking trail was recently singled out by Buzzfeed as a trail we'd rather keep to ourselves. Sure tourism is great for the area and we welcome that, but sometimes it's nice to enjoy local nature without the crowds.

Buzzfeed took a look at 11 hiking trails in New York state that are hidden or lesser known gems that would perhaps benefit from a little less traffic. Glimmerglass State Park and Kaaterskill Falls were mentioned among others. But it's the Hudson Valley trail that hits home.

Gertrude's Nose at Minnewaska is an eight mile trail that takes around five hours to complete. Along the hike you'll see some amazing views along with swimming holes and more. According to the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference, the degree of difficulty is considered moderate to strenuous. So be prepared if you decide to make a day of it.

Are there any other trails in the area you think are getting too crowded? Let us know in the comments section.
