A woman who works at a local hotel is accused of stealing from coworkers.

On Monday, Saugerties Police arrested 27-year-old Martina R. Compain, of Saugerties following an investigation into reports of stolen money and personal belongings.

Compain, a newly hired employee at the Diamond Mills Hotel on Partition Street in the Village of Saugerties, is accused of removing money and other items from other employee’s lockers. In another instance, the 27-year-old is accused of looking through another woman’s purse, but couldn’t find anything worth taking, police say.

Compain was charged with two counts petit larceny and attempted petit larceny, misdemeanors. Police did not say how their investigation determined Compain was responsible for the thefts.

Compain was processed and released on a police appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Saugerties Court on Dec. 5.
