After more than 32 years in operation, a local J.C. Penney department store will close it's doors for good this April.

The Daily Freeman reports the Hudson Valley Mall location will cease local operation on April 7th. The store employs more than 70 people.

No reason was given to explain the closing. The J.C. Penney stores in Poughkeepsie, Middletown and outside of Albany will remain open.

The remaining anchor stores in The Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston are Macy's Target and Sears.I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing Caldor would jump in and replace Penney's.

Not even Ellen and her flash mob could save the store.
