A charity kickball event has raised just about $22,000 for mental health services at Kingston High School. The 2nd annual Beneddictine Health Foundation's Mental Health Kickball Tournament took place at Dietz Stadium in Kingston on Sunday.

The Daily Freeman reports the tournament consisted of 15 teams and around 200 people. There were four teams consisting of high school kids, two with members from the World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA) with the rest of the teams made up of local business people and their friends.

Barbara Klassen is the Foundation's executive director and she was pleased with the overall results of the event. The event just began last year and has grown quite a bit. The program is designed to build teens self esteem by focusing on motivational programs and discouraging bullying. Klassen said they chose kickball because nobody else in the area was holding that type of fundraiser.
