A Hudson Valley man died in a tragic accident while doing yard work at his home this week.

Mid Hudson News reports that Michael Jordan of Newburgh was struck and killed by a car while blowing leaves near his house on Pressler Avenue. According to police, Jordan was clearing his yard around 2pm on Saturday afternoon when he moved onto the street where he was hit by the car.

The vehicle's driver was identified by The Times Herald Record as Robert Anduze, an 86 year old man from Newburgh. After hitting Jordan, police say Anduze drove to his son-in-law's home to tell him he thought he hit a deer. Upon returning to the scene Anduze's son-in-law spotted police and informed them of the accident.

No charges have been pressed against Anduze and according to Police Chief Bruce Campbell it's not likely that there will be.

Jordan's obituary asks that in lieu of flowers those who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to donate blood or consider a donation to the New York Blood Center.
