New York State Police arrested a 77-year-old Hudson Valley man for allegedly having ongoing sexual contact with a child under the age of 11.

New York State Police in Kingston arrested Albert B. Ames of Saugerties. Ames was charged with first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class B felony.

An investigation determined that Ames had sexual contact with a child younger than the age of 11. The reported incident occurred around 15 years ago in Ames’s home in Saugerties.

The alleged sexual contact was only just recently reported to authorities. Police began investigating Ames after the alleged victim, who is now an adult, came forward to police and reported the sexual confrontations.

Ames was arraigned before the Town of Saugerties Court and released on $5,000 cash bail. Ames will again appear in Town of Saugerties Court at a future to be determined date.
