After spending time in prison for killing a man while driving drunk, a Hudson Valley man is accused of another fatal drunk driving accident.

In Ulster County Court, 40-year-old John J. Ronk of Port Ewen was indicted by a grand jury on two-counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Ronk was arrested on September 14, after crashing his 2004 Nissan XTerra vehicle into a bicyclist on New Salem Road about 1,000 feet from his home, officials say.

According to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Ronk’s blood alcohol content was higher than .18 at the time of the crash.

Ronk is accused of driving into the opposite lane when he struck Jones from behind.

In 2000, Ronk pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter. In court, the then 23-year-old admitted that he drank at least 18 beers before getting behind the wheel.

Ronk lost control of his truck while trying to avoid a deer in Rhinebeck. A passenger in the car, 32-year-old Albert J. Glosque, died as a result of the crash. Neither wore seatbelts. Ronk was sentenced to one to three years in prison.
