A Hudson Valley man is behind bars after police say he’s connected to a number of recent reported vehicle break-ins.

Over the past few months Town of Hyde Park Police received many reports of residents cars being broken into and value items being taken from the cars. The items stolen range from loose change, iPods, jewelry, wallets containing credit cards, winning scratch off lottery tickets, cologne and more.

Hyde Park Police say they identified a suspect, 24-year-old Kain R. Brown, of Hyde Park and brought him in for questioning. After an interview police allege Brown was responsible for the thefts and arrested him.

Brown was remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond. He is due back in Hyde Park Justice Court on Monday March 28,

Hyde Park Police are reminding residents to keep their cars locked and to not leave value items in plain sight. Most of the thefts came from cars that were unlocked, authorities say.
