Updated, Feb. 8 at 12:45: This article originally misidentified Anthony D. Pittman as the Anthony Pittman listed in the New York Division of Criminal Services sex offender database. Anthony D. Pittman was previously convicted of a sexual offense not deemed serious enough to merit a listing in the sex offender database. Hudson Valley Post deeply regrets the error.

Ulster County Police arrested a man who moved from Orange County to Ulster County without registering as a sex offender.

According to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, in January deputies were informed that a registered sex offender had moved into the county. An investigation revealed that 28-year-old Anthony D. Pittman, of Napanoch, moved from a previous address in Walden to Nappy Lane in the Town of Wawarsing. Authorities allege that Pittman didn’t notify the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services or Walden Police of his move. Registered sex offenders are required to notify officials within 10 days of moving.

Police believe Pittman was living in Ulster County for three months. On Tuesday, deputies, members of the Ulster County Regional Gang and Narcotics Task Force (URGENT) and New York State Police executed arrest and search warrants at Pittman's residence in Wawarsing.

Police allege Xanax, marijuana, packaging material, and documents linking Pittman to the Wawarsing residence were found.

Pittman was charged with failing to report his address within ten days as a sex offender, a felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Wawarsing Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are anticipated.
