A Hudson Valley man is accused of raping a woman Monday morning.

On Monday around 3 a.m., a woman told Ellenville police that she was raped. The victim reported that she was walking on Center Street by a taxi stand in Ellenville when an unknown Spanish man pulled her down an alley and raped her. The suspect fled on a bicycle while the woman went to police.

Hours later, an officer stopped a man who fit the description of the suspect, provided by the woman. A search warrant was executed at a home on Glass Street in Ellenville, where police seized evidence that linked 23-year-old Jean Carlos Colon of Ellenville to the indecent, police say.

Colon was later positively identified by the victim, officers say.

Colon was charged with two-counts of criminal sex act, a felony. He was remanded to Ulster County Jail on $100,000 cash bail or $200,00 bond.

According to Ellenville Police, it took less than eight hours for police to identify, find and charge Colon.

The woman was taken to Kingston City Hospital and treated for her injuries.
