A Hudson Valley man is accused of being intoxicated when he crashed his car into another car. The victim suffered a number of injuries.

Wednesday around 9:20 p.m., Suffern Police received a call of an accident with injuries on Route 202 at the intersection of Rockledge Drive. Police say they determined that a vehicle operated by a 42-year-old man from Suffern pulled out of Rockledge Drive and hit a vehicle traveling west on Route 202.

The hit vehicle, driven by a 62-year-old man from Suffern, crossed into an oncoming traffic lane before it came to a stop. Narrowly missing oncoming traffic, officials say.

Following an investigation police allege that the 42-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol when he caused the accident. He was charged with DWAI, which is when a person’s blood alcohol content is above .05% but less than .08%. Police are not releasing his name.

The victim suffered injuries to his chest, back and neck. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps. His condition was not released.

Suffern Police did thank several passerby's who stopped and assisted at the scene prior to their arrival.
