A Hudson Valley man convicted of child porn production and other sex crimes spit blood at one of the young victims during his sentencing.

Clifford Wares, 43, of Warwick was found guilty last month for producing child porn and interstate travel to engage in illicit sexual conduct. He was also convicted for obstruction of justice for sending threatening letters to his victims and their families.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Wares met a pair of teenage girls, ages 13 and 14, online in 2011. The 14-year-old often had sexually explicit talks with Wares before meeting him in person in New Jersey.

Prosecutors say when they met in person they engaged in sex acts at a Passaic County park. When the teenager refused to meet him again, he threatened to ruin her reputation.

He later tried to force her to have sex with a dog that he gave her.

Wares started talking with the 13-year-old by pretending he was a child she knew on Facebook. He then convinced her to send him explicit photos and videos of herself.

When she refused to send him more, he claimed he was going to share the media with her friends and parents.

Wares was caught by police in 2012 in a park near his Warwick home. Police say he was in possession of handcuffs, duct tape, a knife, and a handwritten list of names of children that knew the victims.

According to Radar Online, during his sentencing on Monday, Wares bit the inside of his mouth and spit blood at one of the victims. He was restrained and later sentenced to life in prison.

Judge Esther Salas called his crimes, “heinous and deplorable.”
