An Orange County employee was killed in an accident at the Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick, during routine maintenance.

Tony Teskera, a 13-year employee with the county parks and rec department, was part of a crew that was clearing trees and debris at the county-owned golf course.

Teskera was killed when a 40-foot tree that was being cut down by two other crew members fell in his direction, causing severe head trama. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, as reported by The Record Online.

State Police Lt. Michael Drake said:

This is one of those things you never want to see happen. Unfortunately, the work they were doing is inherently dangerous, and the forces of nature acted upon them. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time when the tree fell. The fall time is less than a handful of seconds in that situation. It was completely accidental.

He leaves behind a long time girlfriend, their young daughter and two young boys he was helping raise. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and loved ones.
