We learned more information about the local man who tragically lost his life while cutting down trees.

On Tuesday around 11:22 a.m., State Police were sent to assist following a report of a man pinned underneath a fallen tree.

Zane A. Grey, 38, of Union Vale was clearing trees with a chainsaw from vacant land on Mallory Road in Union Vale when he was hit by a large tree and pinned underneath it, police say.

First responders arrived on scene and immediately attempted to remove Grey from the tree. During the process he lost consciousness.

The 38-year-old was taken to Mid-Hudson Region Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, but appears to be accidental, officials say.
