A local man has sued Southwest Airlines as a result of a 2013 crash that allegedly left him with painful injuries. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports, Kenneth Kochman of Pleasant Valley was returning from a business trip in Nashville when the crash occurred at LaGuardia Airport in July of that year.

The plane, a Boeing 737, contained just under 150 people. Eight of those on board sustained minor injuries, while 141 went uninjured according to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board.

According to lawyers for Kochman, the negligence lawsuit was filed last Thursday in Queens. The report indicated that the captain did not follow standard procedures during the landing which contributed to the incident. The front landing gear failed, and the nose of the 737 hit the ground and skidded along the runway. As a result, Kockman reportedly hurt his back, but the initial impact was felt throughout his body. It took several days for him to realize the extent of his injury.
