Police officers were honored for saving a man's life who went into cardiac arrest at a town hall.

On April 10, 2018, members of the New York State Police and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were recognized for saving a resident’s life at the New Lebanon Town Hall.

Troopers William T. Vick, Benjamin S. Hayes, Jason A. Christie, along with Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ian Boehme, were awarded certificates of appreciation from Town Supervisor Colleen Teal and Barry Chuck.

Chuck, who co-presented the awards, was the man whose life was saved.

On Feb. 9, New York State Police responded to reports of a man in cardiac arrest. First responders found the Chuck unconscious and not breathing. An automated external defibrillator was utilized and then CPR was performed for 10 minutes while waiting for the arrival of emergency medical services.

Chatham Rescue then transported Chuck to Albany Medical Center where he later recovered.
