A town of Ulster scrap metal recycling plant has closed it's doors for good, costing 32 local residents their jobs. The Daily Freeman reports B. Millens and Sons Inc closure has left people searching for a new place to bring their recyclable scrap metal.

Attorney David Lenefsky stated on behalf of Millens that there were several factors in shutting down the plant, but it was primarily a drop in the market for recyclables that lead to the closure. He also stated there is no plan for the business or building at this time.

The company has deep roots in the Hudson Valley having originally opened in 1888 in Kingston. The Ulster facility just opened in 2013 after a year long wait for environmental approval. They also own a scrapyard by the Rondout Creek which was listed as a Class 2 Superfund site. According to Millen's attorney, that site is close to being remediated.
