A Hudson Valley restaurant was recently featured in the New York Times. Gaskins in Germantown is making a name for itself despite only being open for about a year. Nick and Sarah Suarez left the city for greener pastures and discovered a small Columbia County town that felt like home.

Close to other Hudson Valley buzz towns like Kingston and Hudson, Germantown hasn't seen the influx of NYC ex-pats like their nearby neighbors, but that could be starting to change.

Suarez says via New York Times, 'there's a very special energy to this little town.' The talented culinary couple has extensive experience working in Brooklyn and Manhattan restaurants and decided to bring that knowledge upstate.

The seasonal menu features locally sourced dishes, while the couple splits the work in the establishment. Sarah runs the front of house while Nick hustles in the kitchen. The beer menu keeps it in the family as Nick's brother recently opened a brewery in nearby Livingston called the Suarez Family Brewery.

The restaurant continues to draw new people to the area but has become popular with the local residents as well. Food and Wine Magazine recently named them one of the Hudson Valley's hidden gems.
