Despite unseasonably warm temperatures for most of December, a Jan. 16 opening has been set for a popular local snow tubing park. Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and Parks Commisioner Richard Rose have announced that Orange County Snow Tubing and Winter Sports Park will be opening at Thomas Bull Memorial Park located on Route 416.

The snow tubing hill, which stands at 800 feet, will feature two lifts, groomed lanes and specially built tubes designed for exciting rides. And if you live local, county residents will be getting a deal. For $15, Orange County residents will get a 1.5 hour tubing session, while the cost is $20 for anyone not from the area. You must provide proof of residency when checking in, and all tubers must be at least 42 inches tall.

While snow tubing is the main draw, the park will also feature an ice skating rink, sledding hill and cross-country ski trails.

The opening date is subject to change depending on weather conditions. For more information or to call ahead to check on status, you can call (845) 457-4949 or (845) 457-4910.
