I must admit, I have been to more playgrounds throughout the Hudson Valley in the past two years than ever before and I've had a blast. My playground partner-in-play has a lot to do with that, it's our grandson, and finding new and interesting playgrounds to visit is always at the top of our to-do list.

There are some pretty cool playgrounds in the Hudson Valley. Every community takes pride in having a great space for their kids to play in, but every now and then you can't help but notice some playgrounds are in desperate need of a little TLC.

Such is the case of two local playgrounds in James Baird State Park and the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park. Today, however, there's good news for these playgrounds because Governor Cuomo announced $2.5 million dollars to help improve state park playgrounds throughout the state.

James Baird State Park will have the existing playground equipment replaced and have an addition of an interactive display highlighting turtle species in the Hudson Valley and the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park will see a new playground built at parking lot 6, one of the most popular spots in the park.

Which other Hudson Valley playgrounds do you think could use an update? Let us know.
